Laura Walsh is an associate attorney at Powell & Edwards. She works primarily in the wills, trusts, and estate practice where she focuses on estate, tax, and corporate planning. Laura enjoys meeting new people, learning about their needs, and she is passionate about helping clients reach their goals. Laura is an active member of the Gwinnett County Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia.

Laura graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law where she completed an accelerated Juris Doctor program, graduating 6 months early. During law school, Laura served as Clerk of the Russell Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Secretary of the Family Law Society, and President of Parents Attending Law School. Laura worked in the Philip C. Cook Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic under the supervision of many esteemed tax lawyers in order to learn and practice the intricacies of tax law and planning. Laura began working as a clerk with Powell & Edwards at the end of her second year of law school.

Laura completed her bachelor’s degrees in English and Political Science at Georgia Gwinnett College where she graduated magna cum laude. She served as the Chief Justice of the Student Government and Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, The Globe. She served as President of Pi Sigma Alpha, Sigma Iota Rho, the Political Science Club (POLIS), and the Law Society. Laura was an active member of Sigma Tau Delta, Sigma Alpha Pi, Blue Key Honors Society, and Model UN. Laura presented research papers locally and at regional conferences in New Orleans and Chicago, and she competed in multiple Model UN competitions.

Laura is married to Justin Walsh, and they have three children: Kaeleb, Amanda, and Evelyn. Laura is a Gwinnett native who grew up in Peachtree Corners and is now raising her family in the Harbins area of Dacula with their cat, three dogs, and backyard chickens.

Prior to pursuing her legal education, Laura worked in the dental field as an Office Manager where she coordinated treatment schedules and handled insurance claims and appeals.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys kayaking, swimming, hiking, baking, jigsaw puzzles, and woodworking. Laura is an accomplished balloon artist and a longtime member of Tree Climbers International, Inc.
